Useful Tips When Packing Jewelry For A Trip

Travelling with jewelry allows you to be fashionable because jewelry can easily make a simple outfit look stylish. However, it is important to keep your jewelry organized otherwise you may end up losing one of the backs to your stud earrings or one of the tiny stones of your favorite ring. Aside from a travel jewelry case, there are several ways to keep your jewelries safe and secure.

How to pack jewelry

Necklaces – You have 3 options when packing necklaces – straws, a little fabric bag or a small plastic bag. When using a straw, insert one end of the necklace through the straw and fasten the clasp to prevent them from tangling. If you are bringing along two necklaces, wear one and put the second necklace inside a little fabric bag. If you do not want to wear a necklace when traveling, put them inside small plastic bags; one plastic bag per necklace. Drape the clasp out and seal the plastic bag with a small section of the chain outside.

Bracelets – Roll a wash cloth or hand towel and then slide the bracelet over the rolled towel. Tuck them inside a Ziplock bag to ensure their safety. You can also use a carabiner or metal O-ring to hold your bracelets including your rings. Again, you have to place them inside a Ziplock bag to prevent them from snagging on the other items inside your purse.

Earrings – There are several options when packing earrings like the use of buttons. Use one button for each earring pair. Insert the stud earring through the button hole and don’t forget to tape the backs to prevent them from spilling out. An option to buttons is a stiff piece of carboard. Using the tip of a pen, punch small holes in pairs on the carboard. Insert the earrings on the holes before putting them inside a Ziplock bag.

How to choose a travel jewelry case

If you travel often, you might as well invest in a travel jewelry case to prevent your jewelries from being misplaced. However, not all jewelry cases will work for different types of jewelry. A small jewelry case can be a good option because you won’t be tempted to bring all your jewelries. It is a good choice for your rings, earrings, bracelets and watch but not long necklaces that are likely to tangle.

When choosing a jewelry case, make sure that it is spacious without being bulky. The zippered main compartment must include slots for specific items like the removable earring holder and several pockets for the watch, bracelet, rings and necklaces.

If your basis for choice is elegance, a vegan leather jewelry case will be your new best friend. It looks like a slim wallet with zippered pockets, earring slots and loops for small necklaces. However, this type of jewelry case does not work well for long necklaces and hard bracelets. It is compact enough for a few stud earrings, rings and a simple necklace. However, it will save you from the temptation of bringing your valuable pearl necklace and diamond rings.
